Branding (cattle) with the boys

This Saturday we went to a working ranch branding. Our friends, Jim & Holly invited us to their family (extended) annual branding. The boys loved every second of it, though when asked on Friday if he wanted to ride a horse, Quinn thought for a while and said, "...I want to ride a chicken." He didn't know that he takes after his dad, who, as a boy about Quinn's age, said to his dad, "I want to go hunting....I'd hunt for a bear..." pause, "maybe a chicken"!

The boys both loved playing in the dirt, riding horses, petting dogs, jumping (and sitting) in cow pies, and meeting new friends.

To Cali and Back...

The boys and I are back from 9 days in California! It was a great trip with a lot of warmth and sunshine! I found myself saying, "it's so easy to be happy in the sunshine." I think I realize now why the cost of living is so expensive in Southern California...it's just simply warm and beautiful all the time! We had a packed 9 days: Kids Science Center, Santa Anna Zoo, Disneyland, San Diego Safari Park, swimming, walking, parks, beach, and visiting with family and friends all over! The boys did great traveling and had a lot of fun with all their cousins! But...it's good to be back home with Jerry! There is no place like home when you are together as a family!

Sunshine and Rocks...

This past Saturday was warm, sunny and an outdoor day for the Isaaks. Jerry and I grabbed an ice coffee and some buckets for rocks and headed to a near by state park. We played in the sun, gathered rocks from under a bridge and dropped them off of the bridge. I think the boys could have done it all day. We also collected different sizes and shapes of pine cones on our nature walk. I think we found a new favorite spot where we will be spending a lot of time this summer.
